STEPHENVILLE (September 6, 2018) – The Alliance Jiu-Jitsu martial arts school in Stephenville has only been open for two months, but that still hasn’t stopped the students from succeeding during their competitions.

A female competitor from Lingelville, Kyndra Schouten took Gold in Austin Open, evolve classic and Five Grappling classic in the last two months. Dave Foster from Stephenville has also taken two Golds in the last two months as well.

According to allianceofficial.com, Alliance was founded in 1993 by Romero “Jacare” Cavalcanti, Fabio Gurgel, Alexandre Paiva and Fernando Gurgel. Alliance is recognized as one of the best Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Schools in the world; known not only for their technicality and quality, but also for their professionalism. Alliance has made hundreds of World Champions, over 25 of them at the black belt level. They now have over 200 affiliated schools spread throughout Brazil and the World.

Marc Gaxiola, owner and head coach of the Alliance Jiu-Jitsu school, said that “in addition to the technical/competitive aspects of Jiu-Jitsu, we teach proper nutrition, self-defense and exercise programs.”

The classes are for students five years and older. For adults, the classes are $99 per/month-to-month. For kids ages 15 and below, classes are $59. Students and military get a 15% discount and for law enforcement, classes are free.

Gaxiola said that the competitions are fun for the students.

“We all go to cheer on our teammates and then usually all go to dinner,” Gaxiola said.

Alliance has been extremely successful, especially on the international level.

“On an international level we are the most winning team in the history of Jiu-Jitsu with 11 men’s world championship trophies, eight women’s world championships and one youth world championship,” Gaxiola said.

The Stephenville team record is 24-3 and Gaxiola said he is very proud of all of his students.

“It’s hard to describe. I’m just so happy for them. I see them every day trying so hard, sometimes doubting themselves, and then when they’re standing on the podium, you can just see the pride in their smiles. It’s an amazing feeling,” Gaxiola said.
