Last night’s Bosque Art Center’s Patrons’ Preview was a shocker for Erath County artist Kathy Allen Tate as she won the center’s Jones Award ($5,000 purchase award) for her painting “Once Someone’s Dream”.
“I was in total shock …something I never expected. What an evening!” Tate said.
The national art exhibition and sale renowned for its quality showcases the work of both veteran artists and some talented newcomers to the show, with 175 pieces from over 100 artists.
Cowboy Artists of America member Jason Rich served as judge this year.
The show and sale, sponsored by the BAC Art Council, awards $15,500 in prizes, including the $5,000 John Steven Jones Purchase Award and the $1,000 Art Patrons Purchase Award.
The show will remain on display free to the public September 9-22, at the following times:
Sunday
September 9: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Monday – Friday
September 10-14 & 17-21: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Saturdays
September 15 & 22: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Housed primarily in the former three-storied Clifton Lutheran College administration building, built in 1923 and designated a Texas Historic Landmark in 1975, Bosque Arts Center (BAC) sits high atop a hill overlooking Clifton and the beautiful Bosque River valley.
