McManus, Brannon each earn first career Lone Star Conference weekly honors

STEPHENVILLE – For the first time in their respective careers, Tarleton’s Hannah McManus and Kayla Brannon have been named the Lone Star Conference Players of the Week. McManus earned the defensive honor while Brannon was named the league’s top setter last week.

Tarleton opened LSC action with a 2-0 mark after knocking off Texas Woman’s and then-No. 17 Texas A&M-Commerce in Wisdom Gym.

McManus led the defensive effort at the net for Tarleton as the TexAnns defeated Texas Woman’s and No. 17 Texas A&M-Commerce to begin LSC play 2-0. McManus had a career game against the No. 17 Lions on Saturday as the senior set a new career high with 11 blocks and tied a career-high with 13 kills for her first career double-double. For the week, McManus had 21 kills, 13.0 blocks, and 12 digs.

Meanwhile, Brannon delivered big off the bench for Tarleton with 39 assists in two matches, including 20 against No. 17 Texas A&M-Commerce Saturday afternoon. She also had eight digs and a big service ace in the second set against Commerce to help Tarleton win 28-26 and ultimately the match. Tarleton hit .313 in the two victories.
