No. 20 Tarleton will take its volleyball show on the road this weekend when the TexAnns visit West Texas A&M on Friday at 7 p.m. and Eastern New Mexico Saturday at 1 p.m. CT for Lone Star Conference action.

NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT
Tarleton moved back into the national top 20 by the American Volleyball Coaches Association after earning two wins last weekend. The TexAnns and Texas A&M-Commerce Lions (23) are the only LSC teams ranked in the AVCA poll, while Angelo State is receiving votes. Tarleton has been ranked in every poll since the final ranking of the 2016 season.

LAST TIME OUT
No. 20 Tarleton Volleyball won its sixth straight match with a convincing 3-1 win over rival Angelo State on Tuesday in the Wisdom Volleyball Gym. The Tarleton offense had contributions across the board as four players registered double-digit kills: Adriana Darthuy (13), Amber Strange (12), Lauren Kersey (11) and Tatyana Tuialii-Umi (10).

ABOUT TARLETON
Tarleton comes into the weekend ranked No. 20 in the nation and in sole possession of first place in the LSC standings with a 3-0 league mark and an overall record of 9-2. Adriana Darthuy (130) and Lauren Kersey (115) are the first TexAnns with over 100 kills this season while Blanca Izquierdo leads the offense with 253 assists. Defensively, Adrianna Knutson leads the team with 188 digs while Hannah McManus leads the team with 54.0 blocks.

ABOUT WEST TEXAS A&M
West Texas A&M enters the weekend with a record of 7-3 on the season and 2-0 in league play. The Lady Buffs are hitting .191 as a team while allowing opponents to hit .178. Taylor Kress leads the team in kills while Chandler Vogel (163) leads the team in digs. Setter Selena Batiste has two triple-doubles this season and four in her WT career. She leads the team in assists (214) and service aces (12).

INSIDE THE SERIES: WEST TEXAS A&M
Tarleton trails the all-time series with West Texas A&M 9-44, but the TexAnns have won seven of the last nine meetings with the Lady Buffs, including sweeps in the first meeting last season and in last year’s LSC Tournament semifinals. Tarleton has won four of 26 all-time meetings in ‘The Box’.

ABOUT EASTERN NEW MEXICO
Eastern New Mexico opened LSC action as one of five teams in the league to start 2-0, but the Greyhounds fell Tuesday to UT Permian Basin to fall to 4-6 on the season and 2-1 in league play. The Greyhounds are hitting .198 as a team, led by Jasmine Gannon’s 154 kills on a .257 percentage. Kaitlyn Kluna (236) leads the team in assists, while Alba Ontiveros leads the team in digs with 200.

INSIDE THE SERIES: EASTERN NEW MEXICO
Tarleton and Eastern New Mexico will play for the 48th time in the series, with the Greyhounds holding the all-time lead at 25-22. The TexAnns have won nine straight over the Greyhounds, including five straight sweeps.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
Tarleton will be back home on Saturday, September 22 for Family Weekend in Wisdom Gym. The matches have changed from the originally scheduled events and there will now be three volleyball matches in Wisdom Gym on Saturday, Sept. 22. Tarleton and Kingsville will start the day at 12 p.m. with a neutral match between Kingsville and St. Mary’s to follow at 2:30 p.m. The event will end with Tarleton and St. Mary’s taking the court at 6 p.m.
