Hannah McManus earns second straight LSC Defensive Player of the Week award

STEPHENVILLE – For the second consecutive week, Hannah McManus has been named the top defensive player in the Lone Star Conference.

McManus continued to lead the Tarleton defense at the net with 18 total blocks in three match victories last week. The senior middle began her week with a six-block performance to lead Tarleton past Angelo State before having a week-high eight blocks on Friday at West Texas A&M. Her 18 blocks helped Tarleton keep its grasp on the national lead for total blocks.

In addition to her work at the net, McManus also had 16 kills, four assists, four digs, an ace, and 26.5 total points. The Tarleton defense held its opponents to a .142 hitting percentage for the week.

Tarleton is currently 11-2 on the season and 5-0 in LSC play, as well as ranked No. 20 in the nation by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. The TexAnns will return to action on Saturday with a 12 p.m. match against Texas A&M-Kingsville and a 6 p.m. match against St. Mary’s.
