Tarleton Volleyball moved up one spot in the national poll this week and will play its three matches as the No. 19-ranked volleyball team in the country, according to the AVCA. The No. 19 TexAnns will play host to Dallas Baptist on Tuesday at 6 p.m. before heading north for league matches against Cameron and MSU Texas, formerly Midwestern State. Tarleton and Cameron will play Friday at 5:30 and Tarleton will square off with MSU Texas Saturday at 2 p.m.

The TexAnns swept a pair of matches on Saturday as Tarleton handled Kingsville and St. Mary’s in straight sets to improve to 13-2 on the season and 6-0 in conference play. With those 13 wins, Tarleton is now 24 wins away from 700 all-time in program history while head coach Mary Schindler is 24 wins away from 300 in her career. After Saturday’s match with Kingsville, senior libero Adrianna Knutson moved into sole possession of second place on the Tarleton all-time digs list with 1,659 career digs, passing Emily Klein. Knutson, a four-year starter, trails only Shea McBrearty (1,847) for the program record in digs.

Texan Football continued its unbeaten start to the season by knocking off UT Permian Basin 35-13 in front of a capacity crowd at Memorial Stadium last weekend. Daniel McCants led the way with 162 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns while Ben Holmes threw for three more scores – two to Zimari Manning and one to J.F. Thomas. Prince Robinson added to his national lead in interceptions with his fourth pick in three games to start the season.

Head Coach Todd Whitten has a chance to join legendary coach, W.J. Wisdom as the only two leaders of Texan Football to reach 60 career wins. Whitten enters this weekend’s game at Angelo State with 59 career wins as the head coach of Tarleton. Tarleton Football is looking to bring its all-time program record back to an even .500. The Texans currently boast an all-time mark of 475-480-33.
