Jackets face yet another tough opponent in 3-0 Georgetown

The going has been tough in the preseason for Stephenville with matchups and shortcomings against the state’s #1 and #2 teams. Things aren’t any easier this week for the Jackets as they play host to 3-0 Georgetown for the annual Heart of Gold Game benefiting three-year-old Lauren “LoLo” Loredo.

Abilene Wylie is the one common opponent for the two teams with Stephenville topping the Bulldogs 41-28 while Georgetown was a 31-7 winner.

The Eagles will be bringing a high-flying passing attack to town and senior quarterback Jackson Sioson has been lighting up the scored completing 58-percent of his passes for seven touchdowns and only one interception. Sioson is averaging 227 yards per game passing, and Georgetown has been presenting a balanced offense with an average of 172 yards rushing a game.

Senior running back Xavier Torres has earned the bulk of the rushing yards with 61 carries for 321 yards and three touchdowns.

Senior receivers Noah Drum and Dylan Hill are Sioson’s top targets with 19 (296 yards) and 14 catches (165 yards) respectively.

For Stephenville, the bulk of its offense attack through three games came through quarterback Cole Stanley who injured his right foot in the Jackets’ loss against Midlothian Heritage last week. Stanley has thrown for 723 yards and four scores before going down early in the first quarter.

Cade Renfro’s replacement performance was a little shake at the start with a fumbled snap on his first play, but he turned in a pretty solid game as he passed for two scores on 19-34 passing and 266 yards.

Jacket running back Krece Nowak has rushed for 386 yards on 66 carries and two scores. Kason Phillips has three rushing touchdowns and 82 total yards.

Kyle Lindsey has been the top receiving target for Stephenville quarterbacks and has 17 catches for 255 yards. When it comes to being targeted there are a trio with Nowak having 13 catches (219 yards) and Gavin Rountree 12 receptions for 215 yards are capped by a team-high five touchdowns.

Kickoff is set for 7 PM there were will be a short ceremony presenting Lauren the proceeds from T-shirt sales prior to the game.
