STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton Volleyball is doing its part to raise funds in support of breast cancer research by hosting a month-long raffle throughout October.

The tickets, which will be on sale as early as tonight’s game against Dallas Baptist at 6 p.m., cost $5 each. One ticket will be drawn at random prior to each Tarleton home game in the month of October. The winner will be contacted prior to the match and given the chance to pick one of two TexAnn Volleyball Prize Packages.

Prize Package No. 1 will consist of an autographed volleyball, a T-Shirt, and a coupon for two free ice creams at the Blue Bell Ice Cream stand inside Wisdom Gym during the match. Prize Package No. 2 will be a T-Shirt and allow the winner the opportunity to sit on the TexAnn bench during the match, as well as lead-off the match with a ceremonial ‘first serve’.

All proceeds from the ticket sales will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Raffle tickets will be on sale at all Tarleton home volleyball matches through October 24, beginning tonight at 6 p.m. in Wisdom Gym. Anyone wishing to purchase a ticket at any other time can contact a Tarleton Volleyball player or email assistant coach Katie Hoekman at hoekman@tarleton.edu.

Tarleton will play six home matches in October, providing six chances to win.

ABOUT THE SUSAN G. KOMEN FOUNDATION
In 1980, Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became the Susan G. Komen organization and the beginning of a global movement. What was started with $200 and a shoebox full of potential donor names has now grown into the world’s largest nonprofit source of funding for the fight against breast cancer. To date, they have invested more than $2.9 billion in groundbreaking research, community health outreach, advocacy and programs in more than 60 countries. Their efforts helped reduce deaths from breast cancer by 38 percent between 1989-2014 and they vow they won’t stop until their promise is fulfilled.
