Kenneth Dale Brashear

(May 20, 1932 ~ October 11, 2018)

Kenneth Dale Brashear, 86, passed away peacefully October 11, 2018 at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Stephenville, Texas surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Valley Grove Baptist Church with Brother Ward Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. The family will host a visitation from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Saturday, October 13 at Stephenville Funeral Home.

Kenneth was born May 20, 1932 in Nolan County near Sweetwater to Wesley Virgil and Dessie Stewart Brashear. He graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1948 and married Lucille Smith Brashear on June 9, 1950. In 1962, they moved to the Stephenville area where they were in the dairy business for 54 years and raised three children. Their son Brent was a partner in the business.

Ken became a Christian at a very early age, and has faithfully served as deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, teacher, and many other leadership positions in the church. Ken and Lucille were long time members of Valley Grove Baptist Church.

Ken had a dry sense of humor and liked to entertain his family and Sunday school classes with his wit. He was a hopeless romantic who enjoyed writing poetry to Lucille.

Ken is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lucille Smith Brashear; children, Kenneth Michael Brashear and wife Priscilla of San Antonio, Daniel Brent Brashear of Dublin, Sherry Brashear Gerber and husband Mark of Dublin; grandchildren, Robert Brashear and wife Leah of Katy, Sarah Brashear of Cypress, Zane and Jacob Gerber of Dublin; great grandchildren, Cecilia and Ryder Brashear of Katy; and sister, Vivian Brashear of Stephenville.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Tressie Opal McGuire, and brother, Travis Monroe Brashear.
