Tarleton hosts internationally recognized musician

STEPHENVILLE (October 10, 2018) — Tarleton State University’s Department of Fine Arts presents a free guest recital by globally celebrated cellist Yuri Anshelevich at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, in the theater of the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center.

Anshelevich made his recital debut at the age of 9. Five years later, he was accepted at the famed Moscow State Conservatory and won first prize in the cello division of the highly competitive all-Russian competition, leading to studies with world-famous cellist Mstislav Rostropovich.

Formerly associate principal cello with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, where he performed for 38 years, he served on the faculty of Southern Methodist University and as artist-in-residence at the University of Dallas.
