Tarleton Golf finished tied for fifth place at the NCAA Division II National Preview at the PGA National in Florida.
Tarleton shot a 638 (+62) with rounds of 316 and 322. The TexAnns tied with Lynn in the 12-team tournament. Dallas Baptist won the event with a 601 (+25).
The TexAnns tied for the tournament lead with 15 birdies and also had 87 pars. The TexAnns were at their best on Par 3’s, recording an average score of 3.23 (+9) on Par 3’s, which ranked second among all teams.
Junie Khaw led Tarleton with an eighth-place finish, jumping 10 spots on the individual leaderboard on the final day to finish with a score of 153 (+9). Khaw had rounds of 78 and 75 to record her second top-10 finish of the season. Khaw finished with four birdies and a team-leading 23 pars in the two rounds.
Casey Leatherman was right behind Khaw, tying for 11th place with a final score of 154 (+10). Leatherman carded rounds of 75 and 79 to register her second top-20 finish on the season. The junior from Huntsville had a strong finish to the round with six straight pars. Leatherman totaled a tournament-leading seven birdies and also had 15 pars.
Sophie Caldon tied for 32nd with a score of 165 (+21) while recording 16 pars and a birdie. Breanna Smith tied for 41st, scoring a 167 (+23) and carding 19 pars and a birdie. Raelynn Hardgrave shot a 171 (+27) to tie for 45th place while adding 14 pars and two birdies in the two-day tournament.
Tarleton will compete in the Oklahoma Intercollegiate in Lawton, Oklahoma on October 22-23.
