STEPHENVILLE – In the busiest week of the year to date, Tarleton will have five sports in action including Texan Football and women’s basketball in Stephenville.

Tarleton Football will be at home Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. to host Lincoln (Mo.) in the first-ever meeting between the Texans and Blue Tigers. Meanwhile, Tarleton Volleyball will hit the road to close out the regular season with a road trip to Western New Mexico and UT Permian Basin on Friday and Saturday. Tarleton Basketball will officially start on the men’s side as the Texans travel to St. Joseph’s, Missouri to compete in the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic. The women’s side will have an unofficial start with two home exhibitions while both cross country teams eye Lone Star Conference titles of their own in Canyon on Saturday morning.

Tarleton Football continued its unbeaten start to the season by surviving an overtime thriller to MSU Texas 35-34 Saturday night in Wichita Falls. Head Coach Todd Whitten enters this weekend’s game with 64 career wins as the head coach of Tarleton and trails only W.J. Wisdom’s all-time record of 71 victories. In addition to clinching an LSC Championship last Saturday, Whitten and the Texans also brought the all-time record of the football program back to .500 (480-480-33).

Tarleton Volleyball, who also clinched an LSC title last weekend, will finish the regular season on the road at Western New Mexico and UT Permian Basin. Tarleton has earned the right to host the LSC Championship Tournament on Nov. 8-10 for the second straight year and third time in program history.

The TexAnns are in the midst of their greatest winning streak in school history and the longest active winning streak in the nation, which sits at 23 in a row. Tarleton is 26-2 on the season and 18-0 in league play. With those 26 wins, Tarleton is now 11 wins away from 700 all-time in program history while head coach Mary Schindler is 11 wins away from 300 in her career. Senior Adrianna Knutson became the school’s all-time leader in digs last weekend by passing Shea McBrearty (1,847). Knutson enters the weekend with 1,852 digs. Meanwhile, Hannah McManus enters the week with 311 career assisted blocks, which has her 23 behind Marissa Galich for the all-time lead.

In addition to the career records, McManus has also moved to No. 7 on Tarleton’s single-season assisted block list with 121. She is approaching No. 4 Meg Umbel (122; 2015) this weekend.

The cross country programs, who have been making national noise through websites like TheStrideReport.com, look to continue their dominant running. Fresh off another victory on the men’s side – their third straight – and another top-two finish on the women’s side, Tarleton Cross Country heads to Canyon on Saturday morning to compete in the Lone Star Conference Championships. The women look to defend their championship from last year while the men look for their first LSC title in program history.

Tarleton Men’s Basketball will begin the post-Lonn Reisman era in St. Joseph’s, Missouri as new head coach Chris Reisman leads the Texans to the season opener against Missouri Western and William Jewel at the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic Saturday and Sunday. The Texans were picked to finish third in the LSC preseason rankings.

Finally, Tarleton Women’s Basketball will host two free exhibitions against Texas Wesleyan on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and Hardin-Simmons Saturday at 11 a.m. as they prepare to begin the regular season at home in the F&M Bank Tip-Off Classic on Nov. 9.
