Texans begin Chris Reisman era in Missouri for Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic

THE GAME 
Tarleton men’s basketball opens the regular season on the road for the first time since 2001 as they travel to St. Joseph, Missouri for the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic. The Texans will take on Missouri Western on Nov. 3 at 5:30 p.m. and William Jewell on Nov. 4 at 1 p.m.

THE BROADCAST 
Each game will have a live radio broadcast presented by the Tarleton Sports Network presented by North Texas Ford Dealers. Casey Hogan will be calling the play-by-play for Tarleton basketball this weekend. ABOUT TARLETON: 
The Texans are coming off a 19-11 season where they finished third in the LSC with a 12-6 record. The Texans advanced to the LSC tournament semifinals. First-year head coach Chris Reisman returns eight letter winners and four starters from last year’s squad, including a pair of all-conference players and the top two scorers in Corinthian Ramsey(18.6 points, 4 assists) and Josh Hawley (13.7 points, 9.3 rebounds). Other key returning players are Jaraan Lands(9.9 points, 5.1 rebounds), Jesse Hill (5.4 points, 3.7 rebounds), Preston Enloe (5.6 points, 41 percent 3-pointers), Clashon Gaffney (2.6 points, 2.3 rebounds) and Sam Marshall (2.4 points, 1.7 rebounds).

NABC PRESEASON POLL 
Tarleton received 10 votes in this year’s preseason poll. The Texans enter this season with 22 consecutive winning seasons and have spent 128 weeks ranked in the NABC poll in program history.

LSC PRESEASON POLL: 
Tarleton was picked third in the LSC Preseason poll behind Texas A&M-Commerce (1) and West Texas A&M (2). The Texans received 236 votes in the poll.

ABOUT MISSOURI WESTERN: 
Missouri Western is coming off a 6-21 season in 2017-18. The Griffons were picked to finish 12th in the MIAA preseason poll and are led by first-year head coach Sundance Wicks. MWSU returns six players and have 11 newcomers. Tarleton has played Missouri Western once before, falling to the Griffons in 2004 in Las Vegas.

ABOUT WILLIAM JEWELL 
William Jewell is coming off a 20-9 season in 2017-18. The Cardinals were picked seventh in the GLVC preseason poll. WJ returns a pair of All-GLVC players in Pharroh Gordon and Keith Hayes. William Jewell is led by Larry Holley, who is in his 40th year as head coach of the Cardinals.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON 
The Texans return home to host the Texan Tip-Off Classic from Nov. 9-10 and will take on UC-Colorado Springs and University of the Southwest in Wisdom Gym.
