In his 10 years at Tarleton, Morrow has created numerous programs that promote student success, including state and national legislative internships and opportunities to study in the U.S. and abroad. He most recently was head of the Department of Social Sciences within the College of Liberal and Fine Arts, and currently serves as a Faculty Fellow in the university’s Center for Instructional Innovation.
“Dr. Morrow is a visionary, an experienced administrator and respected scholar-teacher,” Provost Karen Murray said. “His forward thinking and commitment to student engagement ensure that Tarleton Texans will continue to benefit from authentic and relevant learning opportunities.”
Collaborating with program faculty, Morrow led efforts to revise the curriculum for Tarleton’s undergraduate political science and international studies programs, increasing opportunities for collaborative research and better preparing students for graduate work and careers. He created a course on public policy and introduced a minor that combines similar courses into a single concentration, equipping students in any major for a public policy-related career.
He has been instrumental in establishing innovative student success programs, including the Tarleton Town Hall, a living-learning initiative that connects government courses to residential life in Legacy Hall on the Stephenville campus, and a legal studies program that will pursue paralegal certification by the American Bar Association.
Morrow has led students in semester-long civil rights activities, engaging classes across multiple disciplines with trips to Atlanta, Montgomery and Selma. For the past three years he has coordinated the Scottish studies program, and this year he led a joint effort with Tarleton’s School of Criminology, Criminal Justice and Strategic Studies to Prague.
“It is an enormous privilege to be asked to serve as interim dean,” he said. “Programs in our college integrate teaching, innovative research and extensive applied learning to create an intellectual environment second to none. Tarleton has a growing legacy of excellence, and I look forward to strengthening it through our quality programs, our critical role in the general education curriculum, and our support for academic programs across the university.”
Morrow has a Ph.D. in church-state and political science and a master’s in religion from Baylor University, a master’s of divinity from Holy Cross School of Theology, and a bachelor’s degree in religion from Howard Payne University.
Prior to his academic career, he was assistant to the archbishop and national communications director for the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese, working closely with local, state, national and international political and religious leaders in New York and Washington, D.C.
