Visitation for Wayne will be held Tuesday, November 13th from 6 to 8 pm at the Harrell Memorial Chapel in Dublin, TX. Service will be Wednesday, November 14, 2018, 10:00 AM at Pendergrass Cemetery in Sidney, TX.

Charles Wayne Sorrells, a long-time Dublin resident, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, November 10, 2018. He was 79 years old. Wayne was born in Haskell, TX on April 3, 1939 to Clyde H. Sorrells and Velora (Jones) Sorrells. He married Glenda (Wilwant) Sorrells on March 21, 1967 and celebrated over 51 years of marriage. Wayne and Glenda moved their family to Dublin from Fort Worth in 1975 and raised their children in a home filled with love, music, and humor. Wayne served in the United States Army and made life-long friends during his service to his country. He worked as a transportation driver for over 30 years, a restaurant owner, and retired as a welder. He was a member of the Fairhaven Baptist Church. Wayne’s greatest pleasure was playing guitar and singing with his band “Rush Creek.” He was an avid bird hunter and a lover of jokes. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Glenda of Dublin, TX, his brother Ben Adams of Uvalde, TX, a sister Sue White of Stephenville, TX, a son Charles Wayne Sorrells, Jr of Sweetwater, TX, a daughter Melinda Moncada of Sweetwater, TX, a son Ricky Sorrells of Dublin, TX, a son Jimmy Sorrells of Aledo, TX, Kris Simmons of Dublin, TX, nice grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his parents and a younger sister, Carolyn.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that your donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
