LA MIRADA, Calif. – Tarleton used a big first-half run to outlast the Biola Eagles on the road 62-50 and improve to 3-0 on the young season.

While Tarleton shot just .269 from the floor, including .222 in the second half, they were on fire at the charity stripe – going 20-24 – which proved to be the difference in the game. Kaylee Allen led the team with 15 points while McKinley Bostad (14) and Mackenzie Hailey (11) also cracked double digits. Hailey added 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season.

The TexAnns came out on fire with a quick 10-2 run over the first 3:30, which started and ended via the long ball – a three from Kylie Collins to begin the game and one from Bostad to put the TexAnns up 10-2 early. Tarleton went on to extend its lead out to 11 with 22 seconds left in the opening quarter and would take an 18-9 lead into the second.

Tarleton continued to cruise in the second quarter, leading by as many as 16 and not by less than 11 before taking a 30-14 lead into halftime.

Biola struck for a third-quarter run that saw the Eagles pull as close as two points on two different occasions before a pair of Lucy Benson free throws before the end of the quarter stretched the Tarleton lead back out to four before the fourth.

Tarleton outscored the Eagles 13-2 over the first seven minutes of the fourth quarter to extend the lead back out to 15. The Eagles got as close as eight the rest of the way but four straight free throws from Nina Alvarez and Marissa Escamilla ended any thought of a rally.

Behind the three double-digit scorers was Katie Webster and Benson with six points each. Collins (3), Escamilla (3), Nina Alvarez (2), and Destiney Winkfield (2) rounded out the scoring for Tarleton.

The TexAnns will return to action Saturday at 3 p.m. CT in Pomona, California against Cal Poly Pomona.
