STEPHENVILLE (November 26, 2018) — The holiday season kicks off with Tarleton State University’s 39th annual Holiday Masterworks concert set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Auditorium on the Stephenville campus.

The concert features Tarleton’s choral program, the Cross Timbers Civic Chorale and the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.

Tickets are $15 and on sale in the box office from 2-6 p.m. through Friday, Nov. 30, and beginning at 6 p.m. on show day.

Tarleton students join the Cross Timbers Civic Chorale and singers from Stephenville and neighboring communities to form a 100-voice choir under the direction of Dr. Troy D. Robertson in an inspiring performance of Handel’s Messiah, interspersed with uniquely arranged carols for a stirring concert experience.

Robertson, Tarleton’s director of choirs, has created a novel performance featuring John Jacob Niles’ setting of the Appalachian carol “I Wonder as I Wander,” the Burgundian carol “Patapan,” Healey Willan’s “Hodie” (“Today Christ is Born”), “Babe of Bethlehem” from Southern Harmony, and William Billings’ “Judea” (“A Virgin Unspotted”).

Along with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, the concert will showcase Tarleton student soloists Zach Zagrocki, Tori Vilches, Justin Popowski, John Pollock, LeeAnn Marie Hamilton, Julia Pace, Racheal Tuggle, Logan Throckmorton and Xavier Baker.

For more information, call the box office at 254-968-9634.

The upcoming holiday concert is just one of many performances open to the public presented by Tarleton’s Department of Fine Arts. For more information about future concerts and events at the Fine Arts Center, visit www.tarleton.edu/finearts.
