Stephenville’s Marty Yates roped and tied his third consecutive calf of the PRCA’s Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas Saturday night and moved into first place in the world standings and the NFR Finals’ average with an almost $4,000 lead over Decatur’s Tuff Cooper.

Erath County’s gunslinger has been lowering his times in each round roping his first calf in 8.0 seconds. That first time was good enough a split for 3-4 place.

Friday night Yates recorded an even faster time of 7.6 seconds and took first place money as he did Saturday with the fastest time of the NFR at 7.0 seconds.

Yates’ overall time on three head is 22.6 seconds and he pushed past
Caleb Smidt who has a combined time of 23.3 seconds.  Erath County cowboy Ryle Smith is third with 24.2.
