Patricia “Pat” Price Lorance

Pat Lorance died on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 after a long life filled with family, friends, students, and pets, particularly dogs.

The family will host a visitation in remembrance of Pat’s life on Saturday, December 22 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Stephenville Funeral Home at 120 W South Loop, Stephenville, TX 76401. There will be no funeral service.

Pat Price Lorance was born May 13, 1926 in Bowie, Texas to Dewey and Gretchen Price. The family relocated to Stephenville in 1943, where Pat finished her public education, graduating valedictorian of Stephenville High School in 1945. She attended John Tarleton College, and North Texas State University, where she studied mathematics and English. After graduation, Pat was accepted to and attended The University of Texas at Austin School of Law.

In 1964, Pat accepted a teaching position at Monterey High School in Lubbock,Texas. Pat, along with her daughter Adrienne, moved to Lubbock for a happy lifetime adventure. Pat taught math classes at Monterey for 26 years. She always said that those years were the happiest in her life. Pat thoroughly enjoyed teaching students, and making a difference in their lives. She cherished the friends that she made there.

Pat retired from Lubbock ISD in 1991. She lived in Lubbock one more year, and moved to Stephenville to care for her mother Gretchen, until her death in 1998. During Pat’s years in Stephenville, she played bridge with several clubs, was instrumental in the Stephenville/Dublin Book Club, the Rejebian Society, worked countless crossword puzzles, read hundreds of books, and doted on her grandchildren, Adam and Catherine.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Gretchen Price, her brother Bob Price, Bob’s wife Marguerite, and their son, Ron Price.

Survivors include her daughter, Adrienne Chrobak, and husband Michael, of Austin, her two grandchildren, Adam Chrobak of Austin, and Catherine Chrobak of Washington DC, her niece Carol Edney of Mesquite, her nephew Bob Price of Stephenville, and numerous great nieces and nephews, and their children.

Memorials: Pat loved all animals, and would appreciate any donation to an organization that supports an animal cause. Or if you prefer, a donation to any charity of your choice would be welcomed.
