Four arrested for burglary in early morning break-in

STEPHENVILLE (December 12, 2018) – At approximately 3:40 a.m., Stephenville Police Department was notified of a burglary in progress at Cowboy Tobacco in the 2000 block of W. Washington Street. When officers arrived on scene, the suspects ran. SPD Officer Barrier arrested one suspect and Tarleton Police and ECSO deputies, including the county K9 unit, assisted with a search of the area for the other suspects.

Before 4 a.m., a second suspect was taken into custody by Officer Borjon and Officer Donley. Investigators report officers were able to recover several bags of merchandise believed to be taken from the store as well as cash. And at that time, officers from several departments were searching the area for the other two suspects.

Officer James located and apprehended a third suspect in the Jaycee Park at approximately 9:20 a.m. as part of the canvas of the area. At approximately 9:40 a.m., Officer Borjon and Officer Donley arrested the fourth suspect at Walmart.

One of the suspects was identified as Xaverone Jarmal Thomas: Black Male, 22, from White Settlement, and he has been arrested on two arrest warrants from Navarro County for burglary of a building in addition to his Erath County charge. 

Additional suspects in the case are 

• Jmarshae Laderrius Johnson Davis: Black Male, 21, from Forest Hill.

• Alexander Deaveon Thomas: Black Male, 23, from Fort Worth.

• Deandre Deshun Clark: Black Male, 22, from Mesquite.

All were taken into custody and booked into the Erath County Jail on charges of burglary of a building.

In a statement from Lt. Doug McClammy, the department thanked numerous departments for their assistance.

“The Cowboy Tobacco burglary is currently under investigation by the Stephenville Police Department Criminal Investigation Division. The Stephenville Police Department would like to thank the Owner of Cowboy Tobacco, Tarleton State University Police Department, Erath County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety for their assistance and support. The Stephenville Police Department will continue to release information pertaining to the burglary once it becomes available.”

All four suspects are being transported to the Erath County Jail and are being charged with Burglary of a Building.
