FUNERAL SERVICES:  11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel.

BURIAL:  Union Cemetery in Comanche County.

VISITATION:  5:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. on Friday, January 11, 2019, at Comanche Funeral Home

MEMORIALS:  In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 804 W. Wrights Avenue, Comanche, Texas 76442.

Joe Howard Newberry, age 85, formerly of Bend, Texas, died on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at home in Wolfe City, Texas.

He was born on March 15, 1933, in Portales, New Mexico, to Arthur Ray Newberry and Juanita Sartain Newberry.  Joe worked as a Production Forman for Occidental Petroleum Corporation Overseas.  On April 23, 1955, he was united in marriage to Doris Williford in Hobbs, New Mexico.  She preceded him in death on February 10, 2010.  He was a Baptist and attended Honey Creek Baptist Church in Wolfe City.  Joe was a Veteran of the United States Army and served in Germany from 1953 to 1955.  He was a member of the American Legion, a life member of the National Rifle Association, and a member of Texas State Rifle Association.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Rebecca Newberry of Wolfe City, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, David and Tina Newberry of Gilmer, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Maydell and Bob Snell of Aztec, New Mexico; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; 4 brothers-in-law, James Williford of Pearland, Texas, C. L. Williford, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas, Less Tycksen of Knob Knoster, Missouri, and Clay Daughtry of Phoenix, Arizona; and one sister-in-law, Debbie Johnson of Waco, Texas.
