Texan Basketball Game Day: Jan. 24-26 vs UT Permian Basin, Western New Mexico

THE GAMES
Tarleton men’s basketball returns home to play its first LSC home game since Dec. 1 when the Texans take on UT Permian Basin and Western New Mexico. Tarleton will play the Falcons on Thursday, Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m. in Wisdom Gym, followed by hosting the Mustangs on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 4 p.m.

THE BROADCAST
Each game will have a live radio broadcast presented by the Tarleton Sports Network presented by North Texas Ford Dealers. The Voice of the Texans Byron Anderson will have the call for Tarleton basketball this season. The radio broadcast can be heard on KTRL 90.5 FM in Stephenville and surrounding areas or online at TarletonSports.com/ListenLive.

GAME PROMOTIONS:
For Thursday’s doubleheader, Tarleton is welcoming back Texan Nation by discounting admission and select concession items to just $1. All candy, drinks and popcorn will be included in the special.

ABOUT TARLETON:
The Texans are 13-5 overall and 3-4 in the LSC on the season. The Texans are averaging 77.1 points per game while holding teams to 67.6 points. The Texans shoot 49.5 percent from the floor and 38.1 percent on 3-pointers. Tarleton has three players averaging double figures with Josh Hawley leading all players with 18.2 points. Corinthian Ramsey averages 14.2 points and Randall Broddie puts up 10.2 points a night. Hawley leads the LSC in scoring and rebounds with 10.2 rebounds and has a conference-best nine double-doubles in 18 games.

ABOUT UT PERMIAN BASIN:
UT Permian Basin comes in with a 10-7 record overall and 3-4 in the LSC under first-year head coach Josh Newman. The Falcons have lost two straight games and are 4-2 on the road. UTPB leads the LSC with 88.1 points per game and give up 79.1 points. Jacob Ledoux leads the Falcons with 16.8 points per game and is one of four players that average double figures in scoring.

INSIDE THE SERIES: UTPB
Tarleton and UT Permian Basin are meeting for the 12th time since they first played in 2006. The Texans lead the series, 7-4. Tarleton is 7-1 all time against the Falcons in Wisdom Gym.

ABOUT WESTERN NEW MEXICO:
Western New Mexico enters the weekend with a 3-11 overall record and 0-7 in the LSC under third-year head coach Matt Enriquez. WNMU has lost 10 straight games and is 1-5 on the road. WNMU is scores 70.5 points per game and gives up 80.9 points to opponents. WNMU has two players that average double figures in scoring, led by Jon-Reese Woodson’s 13.1 points.

INSIDE THE SERIES: WNMU
Tarleton and Western New Mexico are meeting for the eighth time in program history since they first played in 1992. The Texans are 6-1 against the Mustangs and have won six straight, including posting a 4-0 record in Wisdom Gym.

The Texans will travel to Angelo State and Texas A&M-Kingsville for games on Jan. 31 and Feb. 2.
