Former SHS QB Easton Jones signs to play with Tarleton State

The Tarleton Texan football team got a shot in the arm Tuesday morning with the signing of former Stephenville quarterback Easton Jones who has spent the last year on campus honing his education and healing.
“It’s something you really miss,” Jones said. “You think you are done with it and there’s a longing to keep playing.”

Jones was a fixture on the sidelines as Tarleton went on its 2018 playoff run season and the hunger only got stronger as he watched the Texans go undefeated in regular season play and rise in the national rankings.

“That was awesome and probably the number one reason that I am picked Tarleton as a place where I wanted to continue playing,” Jones. “Ben Holmes (TSU starting QB) and all the guys came together as a team.”
Jones has spent a long time getting healthy after suffering an elbow injury and going through treatments that eventually led to Tommy John surgery.
“Going through the injury and surgery was humbling,” Jones said. “This is something I have always wanted to do and each day was a step closer to getting back on the football field.”
Before that, he led Stephenville in a comeback season and a 12-3 record. Many will remember his playoff performances in 2017 wherein two games he had a quarterback rating of 238.1 with 32-38 passing for 421 yards and seven touchdowns.
