Strong first and fourth quarters by Huckabay (31-4) resulted in a 20-point win for the Lady Indians as they captured an Area title with a 58-38 victory over Richland Springs Friday.
With the win Huckabay moves on to the Regional Quarterfinals and will play Ranger in May Tuesday at 6 p.m. Huckabay’s Indians will also play in May the same night at 7:30 p.m.
Against Richland Springs, Huckabay was led in scoring by Destiny Cook who blistered the net from three-point range connecting on eight shots and she led all scorers with 26 points. Tiffany Meador also had a hot hand from outside the perimeter hitting three for nine points.
Tiffany Meador spread out 11 points over four quarters of play and also had a three-pointer. Kailin Dowell had six points and led the Lady Indians at the free throw line with four. Adding to the Huckabay scoring was Zoe Birdwell with four Ciara Philips with two points
