THE GAMES
Tarleton is headed to the big dance for the ninth time in school history and the TexAnns enter the postseason as the No. 6 seed in the South Central Region. Led by Head Coach Misty Wilson, Tarleton will make its way to Grand Junction, Colorado for the first two round of the postseason tournament and will open against No. 3-seed Lubbock Christian on Friday at 9:30 p.m. CT / 8:30 p.m. MT.

THE ROAD TO COLUMBUS
The NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship will be played at Alumni Hall in Columbus, Ohio on the campus of Ohio Dominican University. The Women’s Basketball Elite Eight will be played from March 26-29 in Columbus and Tarleton will need to win three games at the regional tournament to earn an invitation for the first time in program history. Standing in the way of the TexAnns starts with No. 3-seed Lubbock Christian. The second round will feature the winner of (2) Colorado Mesa and (7) Texas A&M-Commerce. If Tarleton is still standing after the first two games, they will face off with the winner of the top half of the bracket which includes (1) West Texas A&M, (8) Eastern New Mexico, (4) Angelo State, and (5) Westminster (UT).

UNIQUE HOSTING DUTIES
The NCAA South Central Regional Tournament will be split among two locations due to West Texas A&M hosting both the men’s and women’s regionals. The first two rounds of the regional tournament will be played in Grand Junction, Colorado – the home of the No. 2-seeded Colorado Mesa Mavericks – and the regional championship will be held at the home of the highest remaining seed in the tournament on Tuesday, March 19 instead of Monday, March 18. This provides and extra day for travel for the competing teams. As the No. 6 seed, Tarleton could still host one more game in Wisdom Gym by advancing to the regional finals against No. 8-seed Eastern New Mexico.

THE LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton comes into the tournament as one of the hottest teams in the country. The TexAnns have won 10 of their last 12 games, including one of the hardest-fought losses in the history of the program to end their run in the LSC Tournament. Tarleton went punch-for-punch in a showdown with Angelo State and came up short in a 108-103 loss in the LSC semifinals.

A FAMILIAR FOE
Tarleton and the then-ranked No. 10 Lubbock Christian Lady Chaps have already met once this season and the TexAnns came out victorious 67-56 in Stephenville. Tarleton forced Lubbock Christian into 26 turnovers which led to 31 of Tarleton’s 67 total points. Kaylee Allen led the way with her most complete performance of the season to that point as the senior poured in 17 points to lead Tarleton while adding two rebounds, four assists, and a team-high eight steals. She would end up being named the LSC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week for her performance. Mackenzie Hailey, who missed last year’s regional game against the Lady Chaps due to injury, finished with 15 points on 7-13 shooting, seven rebounds, and five steals. This will be the second straight year that Tarleton has opened the regional tournament against Lubbock Christian.

TARLETON’S TOURNAMENT HISTORY
Tarleton is headed to the NCAA Tournament for the ninth time in program history and third straight under head coach Misty Wilson. Wilson has been a part of all nine of Tarleton’s postseason runs – six as an assistant coach and three as the head coach. Tarleton is 2-9 all-time in the tournament with their last postseason victory coming against Texas A&M International in the opening round of the 2014 tournament.
