Tarleton Baseball heads to Odessa for final pre-conference tune-up in non-league series at UTPB

THE GAMES
Tarleton will hit the road this weekend for its final pre-conference games at UTPB Field in Odessa for four games against UT Permian Basin. The games will not count towards the Lone Star Conference standings. The series will begin Friday at 2 p.m., continue Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader, and conclude Sunday with a 1 p.m. single game.

WEATHER FORECAST
There is no rain in the forecast in Odessa this weekend with temperatures ranging from 54-60 degrees. If the weather affects gameplay, updates will be posted as they become available on the @TarletonSports twitter account and Facebook pages.

LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton took three of four in Stephenville in a non-conference series against Eastern New Mexico last weekend. Jake Spence enjoyed a career weekend at the dish as he led Tarleton to three wins in four games against Eastern New Mexico and was named the LSC Hitter of the Week. The Greeley, Colorado native hit .471 in four games with three home runs and nine RBI while racking up a team-high 20 total bases. His biggest blast of the weekend started Tarleton’s rally in the series finale that Jacob Walker walked off in the 10th inning.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Tarleton enters the weekend with a flawless 13-0 record against UT Permian Basin since the inaugural meeting in 2011. The Texans are 6-0 all-time in Odessa, including a four-game sweep in Odessa last season.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
Tarleton will be back home next weekend for a three-game series against Cameron to officially get the Lone Star Conference season under way. The Texans and Aggies will take the field for the first game on Friday at 3 p.m. at the Cecil Ballow Complex.
