Tarleton also had three different players account for four RBI each – Thomas, Law and Mesa. Seltzer, Fowler, and Mesa all had doubles. Thomas legged out his first triple of the season and Law supplied the only long ball of the afternoon.

The Texans jumped on Eastern New Mexico early with eight runs in the first inning and four in the second. After their only goose egg of the day in the third, Tarleton finished the game with nine runs spread out over the final four innings, including five in the fourth.

The offense came in support of Brian Archibald, Zach Svensson and Michael Pilato on the mound. Archibald and Pilato combined for 10 strikeouts on the day. Svensson earned the win in relief.

Game 2: Eastern New Mexico 9, Tarleton 6

Tarleton faltered in the nightcap as the Texans dropped the third game of the series 9-6 to the Greyhounds.

Zach Mesa got Tarleton on the board right away with a leadoff triple before scoring on an RBI grounder from Tyler Fowler to put Tarleton up 1-0. After Eastern took a 2-1 lead in the first, Tarleton answered right back with two of their own in the second on an error and an RBI double from Tyler Parker.

Eastern New Mexico put up a five spot in the second and Tarleton was unable to complete the rally despite scoring three in the sixth.

Fowler led the offense with three hits and two RBI while Mesa added two hits of his own. Seltzer, Tyler Parker, Blake Burns, Jon Law, and Jake Spence had one hit each. Connor Flanagan started and gave way to Jacob Cornell out of the bullpen.
