Gorman woman dead in single-vehicle rollover Thursday

ERATH COUNTY – Preliminary reports from Texas Highway Patrol indicate one person was killed and several others were flown to area hospitals following a single-vehicle rollover on US67/377 between Stephenville and Dublin.

According to DPS Staff Sgt. Dub Gillum, first responders were dispatched to a crash three miles north of Dublin at 2:49 p.m. on Thursday, May 9. Upon arrival, first responders found a 2005 Dodge Durango had rolled over several times.

The reports given were the driver, Shannon M. Hamilton, 37 of Comanche, was traveling southbound on the highway when a “mechanical issue with the vehicle” caused her to “swerve to the right and travel off the right side of the roadway, striking an embankment and roll several times.”

According to DPS, a passenger in the Durango, Susan M. Davenport, 58 of Gorman, died at the scene and was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Bart Greenway. Her family and next of kin about been notified by DPS.

The driver, Hamilton, and a 13-year-old male passenger were transported to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Stephenville with injuries and are both reported to be in stable condition. There were two other passengers in the Dodge. Joseph McCartney, 67, was transported to JPS Hospital in Fort Worth by air ambulance, and a 14-year-old male was transported to Cooks Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth by air ambulance, both are listed in stable condition.

No other information is available at this time.
