Tarleton Track & Field has seven named LSC All-Conference

Tarleton track & field had seven student-athletes named to the Lone Star Conference all-conference team, the league announced on Thursday.

The list of all-conference performers includes the first team, which consists of event winners, all members of the winning relay teams, and athletes scoring 14 or more points at the LSC Championships. The second team includes athletes scoring 8-13.9 points, and the third team those scoring 6-7.9 points.

The Texans had three athletes on the all-conference team and the TexAnns had four from the LSC Outdoor Championships at Eastern New Mexico on May 2-4.

Michael Simcho was named second team all-conference and was the top individual finisher for Tarleton at the LSC Championships, scoring 12 points. The junior from Southlake placed second overall in the 1,500-meters, running a time of 4:00.15. Simcho also placed fifth in the 800-meters with a time of 1:54.67.

Anterius Brown and Alan Palmer were named third team all-conference. Both athletes hit NCAA Provisional Marks and collegiate best marks. Brown finished fourth in the 400-meter dash (47.35) and was a leg on the 4×400-meter relay that hit the NCAA Provisional Mark (3:12.79). Alan Palmer hit the NCAA Provisional Mark in the long jump, placing fourth with a jump of 24′ 4.50″.

On the women’s side, the TexAnns had four athletes named third team all-conference. Jasmine McQuirter lead the TexAnns with seven and a half points at the meet. McQuirter placed third in the long jump (18′ 11.75″) and ran a leg on the 4×100-meter relay that finished sixth (47.42).

Kylee Ponder finished fourth in the 400-meter dash, running a season best time of 56.56. Ponder also ran a leg on the 4×100-meter relay that placed sixth and the 4×400-meter relay that finished sixth (3:56.94).

Esmeralda Fuentes finished fifth in the 5,000-meters (19:05.94) and seventh in the 1,500-meters, running 5:02.03. Meagan Riley was the last named to the third team, placing third in the 10,000-meters with a time of 39:57.25.
