STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton’s baseball season has come to an end with a 6-0 shutout against Texas A&M-Kingsville in the opening round of the LSC Baseball Championship presented by Under Armour.

The Texans sent their second-team All-LSC right-hander to the bump looking to extend their season and Brian Archibald struck out 11 in his final career game. He finished the season with 85 punchouts, which is the third-most in a single season by a Tarleton pitcher. Only Nathan Hickey (96; 2018) and Trevor Renfro (92; 2016) have more strikeouts in a year.

Archibald threw 6.1 innings in the LSC Baseball Championship and allowed five runs – four earned – on eight hits while walking just two.

The offense supplied six base hits – all singles – from six different Texans: Colby Seltzer, Tyler Fowler, Jordan Parker, Blake Burns, Jon Law and Sam Scarborough. Seltzer and Burns also drew a walk each. Tarleton’s best chance to score came in the second with bases loaded and one away, but a strikeout and a groundout ended the threat.
