ERATH COUNTY (May 26, 2019) – According to preliminary reports from DPS, the Texas Highway Patrol was notified of a motorcycle crash on Erath County Road 299, off of US Highway 67/377 which is south of Stephenville, at approximately 11:43 a.m. on Sunday, May 26.
Upon arrival, the trooper found a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Gregory Wells, 55 of Stephenville, was traveling northeast on CR 299 and failed to negotiate a right curve. The trooper reported, “for undetermined reasons, Wells drove off the left side of the roadway and struck a corner fence post.”
Wells was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Bart Greenway. Wells was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Next of kin has been notified.
