Bernice Bufe Reese, 87, of Granbury, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2019 in Granbury with family by her side.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 6th at Faith Lutheran Church in Stephenville, with Reverend Edmund Auger officiating. Burial will follow at Erath Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 5th at Stephenville Funeral Home.

Bernice was born on September 24, 1931 in Mills County, TX, to the late Willie A. and Hilda Lubke Bufe. She married Velon L. Reese on September 18, 1952 in Priddy. Velon preceded her in death on May 31, 1986.
Baptized into the Lutheran faith, she was a lifelong and faithful servant and as such had a lasting effect as a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church of Stephenville in 1962, which is still the only Lutheran Church in Erath County. Bernice played an integral part in the continued growth and expansion of the church and had great pride in seeing their vision of a new sanctuary and preschool become a reality.
After her marriage to Velon, they moved to Stephenville where she loved life on the farm and together with Velon, ran a very successful dairy operation. She loved her family dearly and perhaps her greatest joy was spending time with her grandsons. She was their biggest fan, both on and off the field.

Survivors include her daughter, Tina and husband Jeff Rose of Granbury; grandsons, Matthew Rose and Jacob Rose both of Granbury; sister, Doris Crawford of Priddy; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, and husband, Velon; Bernice was also preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Mauldin; and a nephew, Curtis Reese.

The Reese family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of memorials to Faith Lutheran Church, 3000 Northwest Loop, Stephenville, Texas 76401.
