(November 19, 2014) — Stephenville FAITH continues to journey toward a potential fourth straight Texas Christian Athletic League Six-Man Division II state championship, and the Knights have six first-team all-state selections and the Coach of the Year to lead the way.
Reigning National Homeschool Player of the Year Shadd Cole is first-team all-state as a spread back. Cole scored six touchdowns four different ways in last week’s 70-8 playoff win over Corpus Christi Arlington Heights Christian.
There is a father-son combo with Nick Braun leading the Knights and being named Coach of the Year while Joey Braun is first-team all-state utility player on offense and a second-team linebacker. Other first-team picks from FAITH include junior guard Chance Lyons, freshman receiver Travis Loper, junior defensive end Kyler Gray and senior linebacker Joby Bradshaw.
Other second-team all-state Knights include senior Tye Gage as both a kicker and a center. Honorable-mention recognition went to linebacker Noah Swindell and kicker Hayden Bridges, both freshmen.
The Knights have a state semifinal rematch with Killeen Memorial Christian this week. They face off at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Allen Academy in Bryan. FAITH won the first meeting 51-6.
