The brief morning commute in Stephenville took a bit longer than normal this morning as an accident at the intersection of the South East Loop (US Highway 377) and Hwy. 67 diverted traffic around the area for over an hour.
Stephenville Police Department Community Resource Officer Sgt. Sha King said Stephenville PD received the report of a two-vehicle accident on the loop at approximately 8 a.m. He said first responders to the accident called immediately for Stephenville Fire Department and EMS to assist.
“Stephenville Fire Department and EMS were also dispatched to the accident for a person trapped inside a blue Nissan Sentra,” King reported. “The Stephenville Fire Department extracted the injured person from the Sentra and that person (a female) was transported from the scene by CareFlight.”
The driver of the other vehicle did not sustain any major injuries, according to first responders on scene. The other vehicle involved was a tan Chevrolet Trailblazer.
King said no further information is available at this time as an accident report has not yet been completed.
