STEPHENVILLE (November 25, 2014) — The 2015 season is yet to begin, but for Tarleton State, it isn’t too early to address its 2016 roster.

Tarleton baseball head coach Bryan Conger announced the early signing of a left-handed pitcher Tuesday. Daniel Bogue of Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler has signed with the Texans. He has already racked up multiple all-district honors and been elected second-team All-East Texas, according to a release from Tarleton’s athletic communications department.

“We’re excited to win the recruiting battle because he had some offers from Division schools,” said Conger, according to the release. “I feel like he will be able to come in and make an impact immediately.”

Last year, in high school and summer select play combined, Bogue was 21-6 with a 1.96 earned run average and 167 strikeouts in 144.2 innings.

Coach Conger and (assistant coach Mark Jeffrey) made it very clear through the recruiting process that they have a strong desire for winning championships as well as having their players move on to play at the next level,” said Bogue, according to the release. “As a competitor, that was very appealing.”
