(December 17, 2014) — Charles Moore has one more award to add to his trophy case from his senior season at Tarleton State as the safety was named a Daktronics Second-Team All-America selection Wednesday afternoon.
Moore, who wrapped up his stellar four-year playing career at Tarleton State and recently graduated as the Outstanding Graduate for the Kinesiology Department as last week’s commencement ceremony, earned a spot as one of the nation’s best 24 defensive players to cap off a banner year.
“It’s beyond words,” said the senior safety. “It’s definitely a blessing and I want to thank God, first of all. It’s a real honor that people consider me worthy to be an All-American and it is just as much and award for me as it is to my teammates and coaches. We put in a lot of hard work this season and it certainly has paid off.”
The senior from Carrollton was fourth on the team with 76 tackles and led the Texans with five interceptions, which he returned for a team-high 112 yards. He also broke up five passes and recovered a fumble last season.
Moore has been no stranger to the spotlight this season – for both his efforts on the field and in the classroom.
He was named first-team all-Lone Star Conference, first-team all-region and an academic all-LSC selection. Moore was also named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete and was one of 17 finalists from across the nation in all levels of college football for the William V. Campbell Trophy.
He has also received academic recognition as a Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District and All-American selection.
