Huckabay drops two in Breckenridge, returns home Friday

(January 1, 2015) — Huckabay continues to take on all challengers – regardless what classification they are from.

Facing 2A and 3A schools has become the norm for the 1A Indians, who were ranked by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches as No. 10 in the state despite a 7-7 mark entering tournament play in Breckenridge.

The Indians are now 8-10 after dropping their final two tourney outings to Salado and Breckenridge. Salado defeated Huckabay 57-51 and Breckenridge beat the Indians 57-46.

JW Weiss poured in 19 points and Cade Little added 10 against Salado. Ky Bray contributed eight.

Against Breckenridge, Gavin Fuentes led the Indians with 16. Weiss had 10, Little eight and Tyler Stegall seven.

All Huckabay’s high school teams are back home Friday to face Iredell. The junior varsity girls tip off at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity girls and varsity boys.
