Staff Report

(February 13, 2015) — Five Stephenville players reached double figures as the Yellow Jackets wrapped up third place in District 6-4A with a 65-41 rout of Brownwood Friday evening.

Amongst guards, Tyler Griffin scored 14, Kaegun Williams 12 and Darian Brown 10, while in the paint, Zoey Kendall netted 11 and Josh Nowell 10. The balanced effort was too much for Brownwood, especially in the second quarter and third quarters.

Stephenville outscored the Lions 16-8 in the second to open up a 31-21 lead at intermission, then blew the game open in the third. Brown scored eight in the third and Williams hit a pair of long balls for six as the Jackets owned the period 23-9 for a 54-31 lead entering the fourth.

Evan Moody and Mason Yoes each added three points for the Jackets. Sutton Fambro contributed two.

Stephenville faces District 5-4A runner-up Iowa Park in the bi-district round of the state playoffs. It’s a rematch of a December 30 tournament game the Jackets won 61-57.
