ALEDO (February 25, 2015) — There will be no third straight trip to the regional tournament for Stephenville’s girls.

The Honeybees couldn’t survive a rematch with No. 10 Godley Wednesday night, falling 39-29 at Aledo High School. Godley moves on to face Bushland or Seminole in Friday’s 4A Region I semifinal at Texas Tech.

Godley dominated the fourth quarter after the game was tied 25-25 through three.

Makaila Tyer hit a driving layup to begin the fourth quarter scoring and give Godley the lead for good. It would get no closer.

Tyer led Godley with 11 points, while Leanna James and Jaycee Pammell each scored 10. Tyer struck again with a 3-pointer that made it 32-26 with 5:05 remaining, touching off a stretch of nine straight points for a 38-26 Godley advantage.

Stephenville didn’t have a double-digit scorer. The Honeybees, fresh off their sixth consecutive area championship, were led by Lyndi Graham with nine. Cassidy Cline and Breanna Wooley each added six, Mikayla Hobbs five, Ali Thorpe two and Bayleigh Chaviers one.
