Cline’s big return spurs Bees to rout of Brownwood

(March 3, 2015) — Welcome back to the soccer pitch, Cassidy Cline.

The Stephenville senior scored two goals and added an assist all in the second half of her second game back Tuesday night, leading the Honeybees to a 5-1 rout of Brownwood at Gordon Wood Stadium.

The Honeybees scored four goals after the District 4-4A match was tied 1-1 at halftime.

Tatum Sharp’s second goal came with help from Cline and made it 2-1, then the senior striker took over with a pair of goals herself.

Cline knocked her first goal into a virtually empty net after the Brownwood keeper was taken out by one of her own players, and her second made it 4-1. Skylar Chipman added a goal with help from Codi Beyer to finish the scoring.

The Bees improved to 5-2 in district play with their fifth straight win.

The Yellow Jackets dropped the nightcap, 3-1. Abhilekh Adhikari scored Stephenville’s lone goal on a penalty kick.

The Bees travel to Mineral Wells for the second time this week on Friday. They defeated Mineral Wells 1-0 on Monday.
