Tarleton State 51 A&M-Commerce 53; Final

Final stats from LSC:

Commerce final

Final score watch: Metro State came back to beat CSU-Pueblo 67-56. Metro trying to steal regional from Tarleton. If Metro wins tomorrow in RMAC final, committee will be in interesting spot. Note, Tarleton has 3 total losses (including tonight) and Metro 4.

TAMUC vs. ASU, 5:30 p.m. Saturday following women’s championship between WTAMU and MSU at 3 p.m.

What a great game by Darrell Williams, putting 20 points and 12 boards on the back of his record setting 21 rebounds and 25 boards last night against WTAMU. If TAMUC wins tomorrow, he will most likely be MVP. No surprise there.

Mo Lee just five shot attempts, 1-5 from floor including 1-3 from arc. 4-5 from line, totals 7 points. Great defensive game plan by TAMUC coach Sam Walker, and great execution by Lions.

Tarleton has 14 game win streak snapped… Has seven game win streak in LSC Championship play snapped. Had won 11 of previous 12 vs. TAMUC including 68-48 just five nights ago in Stephenville.

Tarleton can’t get a good look, ends game with missed 30 foot 3-pointer by Lee. And Metro won, if Metro wins RMAC tournament in final, looks like regional could still slip away from Texans. Be a tough call for committee.

Lee throws it away, but TAMUC steps out of bounds. Tarleton has 8.9 seconds to force overtime or win with 3.

Hardge blocked a shot!

Lee to the line after a questionable foul call. 59.5 seconds left…Hits 1-2.

Hamilton forces early 3, not a good decision, well short. Williams fouled on other end, Big free throws coming with 1:17 left. He hits both.

Wow big, obvious, travel on TAMUC’s Owens. Tarleton has chance at lead again. Under 2 minutes

Hamilton reverse layup, one point game.

Tarleton keeps trying lobs, keeps throwing it away.

Reed, Hamilton, Carter all with four fouls for Tarleton and McCauley FT put TAMUC up 3 as we approach 3 minute mark.

Stats at 3:57/2 before Williams FTs ….. he hit both.

late stats

All-American candidate Williams to the line for TAMUC after media timeout.

Hamilton driving dunk off nice high pick by Carter.

Carnegie with two TAMUC free throws, Lions back ahead as we go back and forth.

Carter put back SLAM! Tie GAME

Score watch: Regional No. 2 Metro is up 48-42 over CSU-Pueblo with 6:18 left.

Williams with 1-2 TAMUC FTs for 46-44 lead.

Hamilton back in with four fouls.

Reed isses 3, Tarleton into press again.

Carnegie put back, A&M-C back on top.

Lee hits all three! Tarleton leads for first time of 2H.

Lee fouled shooting 3 at 7:48/2… he was tackled into bench. Loud Commerce fan says “That’s horrible!” lol ohhhhh fans. … This is fun folks, great basketball game in great conference,

Ebomwonyi misses front end of 1-1, could have tied game with 2 FTs.

Score watch: Metro State back on top of CSU-Pueblo 41-38 at 10:28 left

Tarleton steal, Ebomwonyi fouled on breakaway, Tarleton already in the bonus. It’s getting tight folks!

Ebomwonyi 3!!! True freshman! Assist to Mike Hardge

Lee GREAT pass for a Carter SMASH DOWN

A&M-C has done to Mo Lee so far what Tarleton did to Carnegie in Stephenville.

Pleasant sinks a long two in the wake of serious D by Tarleton’s Clemons.

Score watch: CSU-Pueblo leads Metro State  38-37 at 12:18/2

Freshman Riddick follows big 3 with freshman mistake by committing a travel violation.

Tarleton goes to full court press effectively.

Riddick, a freshman, hits a 3 with assist from Hardge. Five point game, all kinds of time!

Reed turns down open 3 then travels, but Tarleton a quick stop at other end.

Big 3 Mike Hardge to cut it to eight.

Carnegie has played very well, but commits a charge and turns it over for TAMUC.

Hamilton’s fourth foul takes us to first media timeout of second half. Hamilton has been one of team’s best scorers last three games for Tarleton.

Tarleton just 4-14 from 3 for game, only FG this half is an easy layup.

Willams inside. Too easy. Commerce by 11. Tarleton calls timeout.

Clemons assist to Hamilton for easy layup. First FG either way in Second half….But commerce answers with its first .

Darrell Williams is a BEAST. There is a reason he’s the LSC Player of the Year. The commerce senior gets a grown man rebound, is fouled going up and hits 2 free throws. No field goals yet this half. Just 3 free throws for Tarleton and 2 for TAMUC.

Reed is literally carrying the Texans. Back to the line… hits 1-2 this time.

Reed to the line – hits both. He has 14 to lead all scorers.

Both teams miss 3s to start new half.

Second half under way! And Texans need it to be a good one…. In good news, regional No. 2 Metro State-Denver trails Colorado St.-Pueblo 31-26.

Halftime stats from LSC:

TAMUC half

Reid only reason its close for Tarleton with 12…. Williams only reason its a sizable lead for A&M-Commerce with 11.

Darrell Williams might be best player in country. Just hit 15 foot left elbow jumper to end first half.

Reed hit 1-2. Free throws

Reed hits a much needed three for Tarleton, then after a steal, Reed is fouled inside and going to line. Chance for five straight here for the junior forward.

Carnegie is smoking Tarleton after going scoreless in Stephenville six days ago.

Carnegie inside. A&M-C has made last five shots. 13 straight points

Score watch: CSU-Pueblo leads Metro State, the No. 2 team in region behind Tarleton, 24-20 with 5:23 left first half in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference semifinal in Denver.

And a charge by Tarleton to further complicate matters. A&M-Comm has all the momentum right now.

3 straight threes and Commerce is taking control here with 11 straight points.

Leal with a Commerce 3 and Lions back up 25-21 at 4:20/1… It was a right corner 3. Chris Reisman, associate head coach for Tarleton calls the open corner 3 the easiest shot in basketball.

Carnegie just got his first field goal in last two games against Tarleton.

Lee is ridiculous. Just drained a fadeaway 3 against tough D. Then Commerce answers with a 3 of its own.

Tarleton has made 4-5 since starting 2-8, Hardge just hit 2 FTs for the lead.

Getting very physical out there. Refs need to keep control. These teams combined for six technicals when Tarleton won 68-48 Sunday. Much different game than that so far tonight, as I expected it to be.

EJ Reed another good drive and 2, Tarleton has first lead in 13th minute of game, but then Pleasant hits a 3, TAMUC right  back on top.

EJ Reed dunks right through a foul by LSC player of year Darrell Williams! Highlight reel. And-1 free throw is good.

Looked like a block, but a bit of body contact gives EJ Reed first foul and Darrell Williams two free throws for TAMUC.

Hardge drains left corner 3 off inbound!

First triple by Lions.

EJ Reed gets a steal and breakaway 2, Texans back within 1.

Both teams start 2-8 from floor…. Commerce just scored and is now 3-10.

Tarleton couldn’t go to the store and buy a bucket thus far.

Pleasant with a Commerce free throw for 7-4 lead over Tarleton…. But then Clemons scores in paint for Texans. He’s playing great off bench of late.

Ebomwonyi 3 rims out, we have 3 combined fireld goals in 6-1/2 minutes.

We have defense, lots and lots of defense!

The teams are a combined 1-9 shooting. But wait, Hamilton hits a trey, and we’re tied.

EJ Reed hits 1-2 FTs, Tarleton still no field goal but finally on the board.

Carnegie at line for TAMUC. The 16 point a game scorer was scoreless last Sunday at Tarleton, but just hit 1-2 FTs.

Hardge misses both. Abysmal start by Tarleton offensively

Reed blocks Williams inside, then Hardge drives and draws a foul. Perhaps Tarleton can get on board from line.

LSC Player of the Year Darrell Williams scores first points of game for TAMUC with an ‘And-1’ plus FT from 10 feet out left side.

2 defensive stops by Tarleton, 1 by Commerce, still scoreless

Davene Carter gets first foul just seconds into game.
