Charles A. Wilkins, 65, of Hico, passed away Sunday, March 8th at his home in Hico.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday, March 12th at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Country Oaks Cemetery in Hico. Friends may call at Stephenville Funeral Home from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM Thursday.

Charles was born on January 7, 1950 to James Arthur and Robbie Netherton Wilkins in Brandenburg, Kentucky. He married Wanda Lee Garber on June 5, 1970 in Valley Station, Kentucky. In 1967 Charles enter the U. S. Marine Corp., and served as a Combat Air Crewman in Vietnam. He receive several commendations while serving in Vietnam. He received the Purple Hearts after wounds he received after being shot down while in combat. He was honorably discharged in 1970. Charles received his degree from Emory Riddle Aeronautical University, and retired after nearly 30 years as a commercial airplane mechanic with American Airlines.

Charles is survived by his wife, Wanda; children, Donna Edwards of Meridian, Texas, Gilbert Martin of Auburn, Indiana, Tracy and husband Milton Otero of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Michael and wife Misty Wilkins of Fort Worth, Texas, Robin Wilkins of Fort Worth, Texas; mother, Robbie Wilkins; 13 grandchildren, Danny, Austin, Carissa, Jessica, Cevin, Grace, Nicholas, Nathan, McKenna, Preston, Trenton, Caitlin, and Brittany; several great-grandchildren; 2 brothers; 3 sisters; and several nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his father, James Wilkins; a daughter, Kelly Bell; 3 brothers; and a sister.
