Area cowboys win more than $13K in Nevada rodeo

(April 12, 2015) — Local cowboys combined to win more than $13,000 at the Clark County Fair & Rodeo that ended Saturday in Logandale, Nev.

Clay Tryan and Jade Corkill are pursuing a third straight world championship in team roping and added to their lead in the world standings by winning the average at the two-round event. Tryan, of Lipan, and Corkill, of Huckabay were fifth with a time of 4.8 seconds in round one, and tied for fifth in 4.6 seconds in round two. The pair was four-tenths of a second faster on two head than any other tandem in the field, winning $3,294 each for the average title and a total of $5,108 each for the week.

Luke Brown of Stephenville and KollinVonAhn of Huckabay won more than $3,600 each in the team roping. They tied for first with a blistering time of 4.3 seconds in round one, and finished fifth in the average with a total time of 10.3 seconds on two head.

Stephenville cowboy Jacobs Crawley won more than $2,400 after a score of 84 left him in a three-way tie for second in the saddle bronc riding.

Chase Williams continued his strong start to the season in tie-down roping, placing sixth in the average and winning almost $1,800. He was seventh in the first round, then was part of a three-way tie for sixth – that also included former Tarleton cowboy Reese Riemer – in the second round.
