STEPHENVILLE (April 16, 2015) — During the month of April, the Department of Fine Arts at Tarleton State University will be exhibiting the senior work of three students who are candidates to graduate with bachelor in fine art degrees at the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Gallery.

The Spring 2015 Senior Art Exhibition showcases the work of Alyssa Bedrick, Sarah Cook and Jerae David, each of whom display a variety of styles and approaches to art and design. The purpose of the senior exhibition gives the opportunity for the artists to mount a professional exhibition of a complete body of work that showcases a cohesive portfolio in the field of study the student intends to focus on upon graduation.

The public is invited to visit the Fine Arts Center Gallery to view the exhibit, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Bedrick is pursuing a career in the field of art education. Her work explores the many areas of expertise required to be a successful teacher.  Nature is a huge influence in Bedrick’s artwork with many of her pieces featuring animals and organic designs.

Cook’s body of work, entitled At All Costs, is an ambiguous fantasy-narrative told through acrylic paintings and mixed media sculpture.

David’s work was a collaboration project with the Fort Worth-based business Re-Think It. She designed a commercial brand identity campaign for the client based on “upcycling” thrift items for event planning, reorganization and redecoration.

Senior capstone advisor and art professor Chris Ireland said, “this semester’s crop of graduates is unique because they each represent a different approach to forming a career in today’s creative workforce. From art education, graphic design, to studio art and illustration, all three artists have been working hard to prepare their portfolios for active careers in their areas of interest.”

The Spring 2015 Senior Art Exhibition is open to the public. There will be a reception for the artists from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 25.
