(April 17, 2015) — April 7-14 was a heck of an eight-day span for seven-time National Finals Rodeo qualifier Luke Brown.

The Stephenville header, who has three NFR average titles, paired with Huckabay heeler Kaleb Driggers to place third in the average at the Hork Dog Roping in Las Vegas on April 7, then headed west along with many other competitors for the annual PRCA blitz through California.

On Tuesday, Brown teamed up with Kollin VonAhn to win the Broc Cresta Memorial Roping in Cottonwood, California, an event particularly special to the Stephenville cowboy.

“(It) was a great day in honoring the memory of our friend Broc Cresta. Feeling very proud and honored to have won the Broc Cresta Memorial Roping with Kollin…” reads a post by Brown on his celebrity Facebook page that has more than 10,000 ‘likes.’

Brown and VonAhn are no strangers to success as a team. Brown’s seven NFR appearances have consecutively beginning in 2008, and VonAhn has been his partner for each of the last two. They won the fourth go-round at the 2014 NFR, placing 13th in the average and 15th in the final world standings. In 2013, they placed in six rounds on their way to winning the average at the NFR.

Brown partnered with Stephenville heeler Martin Lucero to reach the NFR four straight times from 2009-2012, and qualified for rodeo’s biggest stage with Huckabay heeler Jade Corkill in 2008. Brown and Lucero won the NFR average title in 2010. Brown and Corkill were second in the NFR average in 2008.
