Release from the Office of Brent Graves

STEPHENVILLE (May 5, 2015) — Stephenville civic and business leader Brent Graves filed paperwork with the Texas Ethics Commission and announced his campaign for State Representative. Mr. Graves will be challenging J.D. Sheffield, a doctor from Gatesville who gained statewide attention nearly a week ago when he took to the floor and spoke in favor of keeping certain late term abortions legal.

Graves announced his campaign saying, “My wife and I have prayed about seeking this seat for over a year. It was my intention to wait till the end of the legislative session to make a final decision, but Mr. Sheffield’s support of late term abortions on the house floor was the last straw. I disagree with Mr. Sheffield on many issues but our position on protecting the unborn is the clearest contrast there is. It’s time for conservative representation in District 59.”

Brent Graves is the immediate past president of the Texas Association of Auctioneers and runs a real estate company in Stephenville. Brent’s wife serves as the executive director of the Stephenville Choices Center, a pregnancy center that offers abortion alternatives to women facing unplanned pregnancies.
