Tarleton releases 2015 football schedule

After resigning at Tarleton State on November 16, Cary Fowler is a candidate for the head coach vacancy at Division I FCS Austin Peay State in Clarksville, Tennessee, according to a report by Clarksville newspaper The Leaf-Chronicle.

STEPHENVILLE (May 11, 2015) — Tarleton State will begin its 2015 season with four games against opponents that regularly field NCAA Division II playoff qualifiers.

The Texans released their 2015 schedule through the Tarleton Athletic Communications Department Monday. The complete schedule an be seen here.

Tarleton kicks off its season at home on Sept. 12, when the University of Findlay (Ohio) visits Memorial Stadium, then travels to lush AT&T Stadium in Arlington to continue its Lone Star Conference rivalry with West Texas A&M as part of the Lone Star Football Festival on Sept. 19.

Conference games continue the next four weeks with Midwestern State in Wichita Falls, Texas A&M-Commerce back home in Stephenville, Texas A&M-Kingsville on the road and Eastern New Mexico at home.

Tarleton’s only non-conference game besides its season opener comes against Oklahoma Panhandle State – a future LSC member – on Oct. 24 in Stephenville, and its the final regular-season home game.

A trip to Angelo State concludes the regular season on Oct. 31, with the Lone Star Conference playoffs to follow on Nov. 7 and Nov. 14. Higher seeded teams host the conference playoff games.

Tarleton is coming off a 5-5 season. The Texans fell to regular-season conference champ Texas A&M-Commerce in the opening round of the inaugural league playoffs before defeating Midwestern to earn third place in the tournament.
