STEPHENVILLE (May 13, 2015) — Stephenville is close to hiring a new boys basketball head coach to replace Jonathan Normand.

“We’re hoping to hire someone at the board meeting next Tuesday,” said new SISD athletic director Alan Haire.

That’s when the district’s board of trustees will hold their regular monthly meeting at Bond Auditorium.

Haire estimated about 30 prospects had applied for the job as of Wednesday morning, and said the district does not plan to publicly name a lone finalist before the meeting of trustees.

Normand resigned on April 22 after four successful seasons leading the Yellow Jackets. He guided them to their first regional finals appearance in school history in 2013-14. Normand has been accepted into a doctoral program at Tarleton State University and plans to become a college professor.
