(May 15, 2015) — It’s no secret Lonn Reisman is the most accomplished “small college” basketball coach in Texas.

Reisman has more wins at one school – 589 – than any coach in the state, has 612 career wins, and is fresh off his third South Central Region title and first outright, league wide Lone Star Conference regular season championship.

The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches took notice Friday, naming Reisman the TABC Small College (all levels below Division I) Coach of the Year for the third time.

Reisman and Tarleton set a modern-era school record with 31 wins in 2014-15, and reached the “Final Four” for the second time, the first since 2005. It was his 27th season at Tarleton, where he is also athletic director and led the school from NAIA Division II to NCAA Division II in 1994. He is averaging 21.8 wins per season at Tarleton. With just 233 losses, he has a win percentage of .717.

Reisman has earned 13 total “coach of the year” honors, according to a release from Tarleton Athletic Communications, including 10 in 22 seasons in the NCAA.

“I’m extremely humbled to receive this award. It’s an honor to be selected, but this goes to my whole coaching staff,” said Reisman, according to the release. “I have an incredible staff around me who work tireless hours to help us succeed, and we wouldn’t have had the season we did without them.”

Reisman’s staff includes associate head coach Chris Reisman, assistant coaches Marlin Cloudy and Chris Harrell and graduate assistant Coleman Furst. Coleman Hollingsworth is a student assistant.

Tarleton has three starters returning to its lineup next season, along with two of its top reserves. The Texans have made public three members of its 2015 recruiting class – junior college All-American guard Luis Baltazar of The Bronx (NY) and Burlington County College (NJ), Lewisville High School forward Anthony Davis and Irving MacArthur forward Josh Hawley.
