Three seniors awarded first James Howard Legacy Scholarships

STEPHENVILLE (May 26, 2015) — Three Erath County students were presented college scholarships Tuesday evening at Stephenville City Park.

Not just any scholarships, but the first in memory of 45-year Assembly of god minster James Howard.

Katelin Hay, a home school graduate from Bluff Dale, Chris Hooper of Dublin High School and Samantha Sullivan of Stephenville High School earned the initial James Howard Legacy Scholarships. Hay plans to study medicine, Hooper will attend Tarleton State University and major in music business and Sullivan will also enroll at Tarleton and study social work and pre-ministry.

Howard’s ministerial legacy is carried on by his five sons, and now, through this scholarship, awarded to Erath County students demonstrating a ministry or mission focus. It is funded through Mo Howard Ministries, and Mo, son of James Howard, was on hand to speak briefly and pray for the scholarship winners.
